what a witch

"the stories never said why she was wicked.
it was enough to be an old woman, enough to be all alone, enough to look strange because you have no teeth. it was enough to be called a witch. if it came to that, the book never gave you the evidence of anything.
it talked about "a handsome prince"... was he really, or was it just because he was a prince that people called handsome? as for "a girl who was as beautiful as the day was long"... well, which day? in midwinter it hardly ever got light!
the stories don't want you to think, they just wanted you to believe what you were told."

dress from goodwill, tights from limited too, mudd shoes from a vintage store, pentagram ring from my little sister and turquoise ring from my grandma, lula magazine.

this outfit is from a few weeks ago when my family went to see harry potter. (i know the quote technically has nothing to do with harry potter, but it was just too relevant to the whole witch thing not to post.) it was a while after the release date, but the theater was still packed...kind of ridiculous, but worth it. i didn't cry as much as i expected i would! which is strange because i have some intense crying genes.
the webcam cut my face out of the picture, so i can't show a before and after shot of my new haircut, but it's a somewhat drastic difference. you can kind of get an idea of how short it is by the last picture where my forehead is poking out from behind lula. (my first lula! i'm one of those bloggers now.)
also, i have to remember not to wear those shoes without socks on because they absolutely kill my heels.

quote from "the wee free men" by terry pratchett, pixie geldof at the harry potter premiere (in d&g a/w '11), gwen stefani, cat face leggings, samantha stephens, cyndi lauper, striped tights.
